Would a yb2o5 block fit in my mk 4 escort mounted transverse ?

You can't bolt a YB block straight onto to any MK4 gearbox, end of, the boxes are nothing alike. To get it in you need a T5 box from the cosworth or a mustang. I also believe the rover SD1's boxes will fit with a special bell housing. All of which though are inline drive configuration. Wasn't until the reworked version appeard with the addition of 4wd that the front wheels could be powered.
Even if you could drop a YB, even onto on RS box, it'd chew it up and spit it out within 5 miles. It just wouldn't wont take the power.
If you have a MK4 escort and you want big power, the only real way to get it is to use a ZVH conversion, using the zetec head and taking the capacity upto a maximum of 2.2 litres, I've seen them knocking on 350bhp. Just don't expect it to be bulletproof.
To mount it inline, you need to cut and shut all the bulk heads, not a job you want to consider unless it's for rallying. Which if it is, you'd be better of finding a MK2 escort, cuz it'll drop in that engine bay a treat.
Yes , with a bit of work. Gearbox mounting holes are the same on ford gearboxs so should bolt straight on, probably have to make some engine mounts and you might have a problem with the sump. Why would you want to though? a cheap rs turbo engine would be the way to go.
man go for the rwd if your goin that mental the old bmw gear should fit drive train engine swap all u need is a tranny tunnel and mounts moved for the engine.
