What is the average wage for an HGV Driver?
Answers:
Depends on what class of HGV you are driving and what type of work you are doing.
If its Class 1 and tramping (living in your truck during the week) you could reasonably expect £450 - £500, I used to do this but now drive a desk instead.
Be warned, its a very tough life, never eating proper meals or at the correct time, not getting enough sleep and very early starts.
Also, if you are married be prepared to not see your spouse very much.
In Poland quite low, thats why they are all over here.
It all depends, the rates are different depending on if you have class 1 or 2. Also whether you are doing days, nights, nights out, trunking, tramping and if overtime is payed etc.
You can decent money at it though
It depends weather you are nights out or LOCAL BUT CLASS 2 ABOUT 18K A YAER.
not a lot get a real job
where i work the class 1 drivers are on 27k for days and 31k for nights
i drive for a smallish family haulage company where we are still names not just a number, as a class 1 driver we get £9:80 an hour, and £25 per night out, if we're out all week mon-fri, we get an extra £50+ all expenses for food with receipts, on continental work, you can stay on hourly, or opt for a lump sum offered.no one ever leaves other than to retire, the waiting list at present is 11 years, that's when the next driver is due to retire.
