It could be the tyres, are they in good condition? ( plenty of tread) are they inflated to the right pressure? If the answer to both is yes, then it could be a wheel bearing. or suspension a bit dodgy. It needs fixing fast!
Take it to a garage. The brake shoe pads might be touching something. my sister had a similar problem with a corsa, and her handbrake light used to come on. In the end they had to replace the entire brake system; but her corsa was sh!t. A right old shed.
In fact, she's got a fiesta, R reg. Her engine is making a sort of ticking sound and going through oil quite abit. Any ideas on that??
If it makes the sound without you touching the brake pedal its not the brakes and whatever you do dont oil them it could be the cv joints or suspension parts,/easy fix
Also drove a fiesta and had a bunch of problems with it. Didn't have the squeaky brake problem though

Hi. I suggest that you get to a repair shop (dealer is always best) and describe the symptoms to them. The service advisor or a technician should accompany you on a road test so taht you can provide the best details and they can hear the noise with you. Sometimes simply describing the noise or having a service person hear it themself is not enough. The most important part of this response is that you should not attempt any service to yours brakes nor should you have anything done by anyone who is not certified. I cannot offer any insight into the noise of your car without hearing it. There are several things that can cause squealing noises though, so you should get it checked before it develops into a bigger problem.

bugaboo - your sisters car is knackered, normally the wrong oil or running it out of oil kills these.

You checked the brake pads? Sounds like they could be down to the metal in which case your cars dangerous and should be fixed as soon as possible! When was the last time it was serviced? It should be done at least annually!
It might be a mouse holding on for dear life in the engine bay.
you dont oil your brakes. If you did the would get hot and grab on you. Get your brake checked out they may be getting close to needing replaced. Also 1 more thing it could be is that they might be dirty. Buy can of brake cleaner. jack the car up and take the front wheels off and, spray the heck out of your brakes and wipe them down with clean cloth.
OI OI OI, dont call me a smarty pants or anything, im just giving my opinion and advice. But some of this junk people are saying is pretty much junk.
First, please dont oil your brakes, they are used for stopping, and its an awful lot easier and safer if you dont have slippery oil on them.
The brake system is fine, if you are not braking when you go round a corner.
It could be one wheel bearings like other people have said, although they dont tend to squeck, they only grind. Ask someone to listen near your wheel as you role forward, if you here a grinding noise, then yes it is the wheel bearings.
Id say the most likely problem is the fan belt, or auxilary belt as some people call it. This is a common 'irritant' rather then 'problem' on old cars. This is just a belt that takes drive off the engine to a thing called an altinator, (just like a battery charger, topping the battery up) and this can sumtimes become slack and cause a squel or squek as you go round bends.
Overall, this, althought sounding alarming, isnt a major problem, and there is no need to go quickly running to a dealer. Your cars ok for road use.

A lot of these Fiestas have a lot of play in the front wheel bearings at this age.
Its not an expensive job to replace them.
If you are able, jack the car up and check each front wheel by grasping the tyre at the top and bottom and try to wobble the wheel, you will soon feel any slack.
Whats happening is that on a bend the wheel is forcing the brake disc to just touch the brake pads making the squeek you are hearing.
