Does anyone know of a good trustworthy car mechanic?

I will repair it FREE. You will only have to pay for any parts needed, and my travel fees! I will require about 2 to 3 weeks lodging for my secretary also, and round trip tickets from Atlanta, GA!
Of course I can't help you in London, but one option you can consider is selling/trading the car "as is". In the states, many "mechanic's special's" will sell for a lot more than tey are worth.
Using US dollars, if your car is woth $2000, and the repair will be $1000, if you can sellit "as is" for $1000, it may not be worth the trouble to try and repair. To find a reputable shop in your area, ask your friends who they would use, or even find other Mercedes owners and ask them.

Haha stay away from the main dealer.they will do a good professional job but charge you probably about £70 - £80 per hour labour costs.
There are several good mechanics near to me who are honest and cheap.. a few of them even do me minor jobs for free eg brake/oil changes etc.
Go see a few smaller garages and get some quotes to see how they compare.
Once you find a decent mechanic then you can stick with them.
Like I tell a lot of people, if you can give $50,000 for a car or truck, you can pay a mechanic no matter where he works. Mercedes, you will have a hard time trying to find someone other than a dealer to fix it.

You should buy the part over the internet (check ebay 1st). Then look in the yellow pages for mechanics who work on German cars.
If you live in a big enough city, it is almost certain that there are qualified mechanics who work free-lance out of their own garages. These are the best to go to, but they are generally only found through word of mouth.
Have it "stolen" for the insurance money.
I know of a really good and ligit mechanic but it would help to know which part of the country you are in or you could join the AA full membership and a month after joining phone them up and they will foot the bill to a max of £500.00.Yes my uncle is in london he is an exceptional vehicle tech own business get in touch with me and get it sorted for you as theres nowt worse than a rip off garage
A trustworthy car mechanic is usually related to a family member either directly or indirectly. That is because he will probably have to see and speak to everyone the next day, &c.
You were not to cheap to buy this high class vehicle, now why be such a cheapskate when it needs to be repaired. If you buy a cheap economy car the parts and repairs are cheaper. Now pay the piper.
