What breakdown recovery option should I choose?

I need to buy breakdown recovery, going for either The AA or RAC, but I'm confused as to which cover I should get? Is it practical to go for the most basic option of just getting roadside assistance when I breakdown or should I be going for all the added options too? Really want to keep it as cheap as possible!

Answers:
I went with 'Green Flag'. They worked out a lot cheaper than the AA and RAC for me, and they always responded promptly & efficently when I needed them. I added extra options, as I was using my car for work, and it still worked out cheaper than the rest!
just go for a basic recovery then that's the cheapest
i only pay like 1 dollar a month through my insurance company. i would say that is pretty cheap. i doubt all ins. companies offer it though.
The AA. Because you'll get hundreds of men fixing your car, not one. Most of all, you've got aa friend!
none of those go for Britannia rescue and get full cover because if you do break down they send a proper mechanic to you and if they cant fix it they tow you wherever you need to go,example if you need your car to be dropped off at a garage but you live say 10 miles away they will drop the car off and take you home or vice-verse but the rac & aa wont because ther policy is one destination only ps i used to be a breakdown recovery driver so i have good experience hope this helps any questions just ask cheers.
try it via your insurance company sometimes you get really good deals.try this site for comparison
