HI, could a mondeo tdci(130) fit into a escort td(r reg) with the correct mounts. Tnx?

Answers:
I'm sure it could be done, but it wouldn't be straightforward.

You would need to use the Mondeo gearbox, as the Escort gearbox won't cope with the torque of the TDCi 130. You would therefore need to modify the gear linkage and clutch system.

Also, the TDCi engine will have a "drive-by-wire" accelerator, whereas the Escort would have had a mechanical cable link from pedal to distributor pump, so you would have to add a throttle-position sensor.

Getting the TDCi engine and gearbox signals to work with the Escort's instrument cluster would be a nightmare.

It would be cheaper to buy a nearly-new Mondeo, than modify the the Escort to take the Mondeo engine.
You could have problems joining it with the gearbox/clutch assembly. Also the engine management electrics would be different. Exhaust mounts etc..

You would need specialist advice on this. My own advice would be don't even bother as this will cost more than its worth.
I would advise against it - the 'new' engine & the work involved is worth more than the escort.

Just buy a mondeo..
it could probably be done, but the amount it would cost would be more than going and buying a mondeo
Thats a fantastic idea, your essie will go like f*ck! However, I hope you can weld and fabricate, cos your gonna have to be able to, in order to make the lump fit, the 2.0 TDCi lump is generations away from the old 1.8 tar boiler you are tearing out! best thing to do is haul the old engine out and lower the new one in on a crane, then you will need to work out how you are going to mount it, you will probably need to make or have made bespoke mounts, or modify the existing ones to suit. The other items that could cause problems are the driveshafts, the front end of the exhaust (Downpipe and manifold), and the steering shaft. It's eminently possible, I've often thought about making a TDCi Capri!
