On my Merc C200K why should there be an annoying knock noise when I apply light pressure to the brake pedal.?
Answers:
If its a recurring noise, especially if you can feel it through the pedal, it could be a warped disk. Needs to be checked. Sorry to say that modern Mercs have not a good reputation for mechanical soundness (did you see Top Gear the other night?)
Get your ABS checked out! STAT!
Possible drum brake component failure. Have your brake system checked out, front and rear.
There's a dwarf, sorry a vertically challenged person trapped under the bonnet.
Besides ABS problems already mentioned you can get a situation where the pads stick then suddenly release particularly if the disks have warped. Get them checked by a good mechanic/garage.
Hi there, the problem you describe could be as previously mentioned be a brake problem if a pad is sticking in a caliper or something similar how ever it could also be a bush in the suspension as well when your braking then releasing as it flexes the suspension, unfortunatley without actually hearing the noise and riding in the car its difficult for any professional auto engineer to diagnose acurately and to be any more specific would actually be misleading you, please also i would stongly advise anybody who is not a proffessionally trained auto engineer/ mechanic not to mess with any safety critical systems, brakes, steering, suspension etc as if something does go wrong you could injure yourself, your family and also innocent bystanders, and also anyone injured can take you to the cleaners legally, always with these items go to the dealer, yes it is expensive but that is because we train them well and no expense is spared on mercedes training, how do i know, its my job and also merc have a good reputaions as well i have worked as a mechanic on everything from motorcycles to tanks and aircraft and i wish some of the vehicle i have had to repair in the past where 40% of the quality that Mercedes make
I would also say that it could be a bush on the back suspension or if the car has disc brakes on the the back, it could be worn slides on the caliper, best to get it checked out before things get expensive!
Sounds like a buckled brake disc to me.
Sounds like you have a loose brake calibre on the rear brakes or a brake pad is faulty . this one should be checked immediately if i was you. You can not fool around with brakes
