Bad switch, short or a fuse.
Could be a fuse, although, if you hear the clunk when you press it, the latch could be broken.
To get to the bird's eye shop.
they're known for that problem.
most probable cause is faulty contact in the remote
because its a ford, they are crap as a general rule, most american cars are.
My (mechanic) boyfriend says dirty contact on the boot lid - there are three copper contacts. Check them
Lubricate the release mechanism.
also does that car have a switch in the lockable glove box to cancel the trunk (boot) so valet cannot get into the trunk with the keyless entry and valet Key? that does not open the glove box or trunk?
My advice? Scrap it!
there are lots of reasons why this can happen, blown fuse, faulty switch, broken wire, loose connection, broken connection, a bad earth , faulty boot latch, faulty boot latch servo, broken servo to boot latch connecting rod, a dirty connection plate ( the ones between the boot and the boot lid)
