MX5 definately, ive got a 03 reg silver MX5 nevada. Drives like a dream n looks the part. I think it looks like the batman car! u agree?

Difficult decision as both are brilliant cars but the Mazda would have to top the list for me. 10 times the car and definitely the more reliable no matter what ppl say and hold their value more
i say mr2 . i would cus i own one . i always think of the mx5 as a poor mans mr2 ,, there cheap an nasty looking,, just a poor equiped sports car

mazda will hold the money better and you have the option of getting a hard top for it, and reliability wise they are both good.
so id have the mx5!
Check them out for size. Both are snug but I find the MX-5 better, it's not physically possible for me to drive the MR2 safely!
