Heat cold knob on ford mondeo 96 only has cold air actual heater ok any ideas?
Answers:
check your water, your water pump might have gone.
Without going into how it works, if there is no water in the radiator your heater will only give out cold air.
thats the most likely cause.
Edit your question once checked, and add more detail, might be able to help
I had one of these.
Start engine run it for 30 seconds ish. (Enough to build up vacuum)
Switch off (so you can hear this) turn the dial - if you CAN hear a small 'psss' then the vacuum servos are OK (they direct the air flow).
More commonly it's a blocked heater matrix. This happens a LOT with mondeos!! Usually after you've just used a radiator / cooling system 'cleaner'.all the sediment settles in the matrix!!
Very easy to clean it out though. DO IT WHEN THE WATER IS COLD! Remove the matrix INSIDE the car. You'll need a pair of pliers / mole grips to undo the hose clips & a screwdriver to take off some panels / bracket mounts. And have a supply of plasters & swear words at the ready.
Takes about 45 minutes the FIRST time.I got it down to 10 minutes as I had to flush it a few times.
have you checked the cables are working?
if so water pump/thermostat stuck open.
