how do i change the fuel pump is it in the petrol tank i was told my fuel pump was not working and how much would one cost

my moms 1996 neon brakes down all the time too. its a P.O.S.

IMHO, you should leave this job to a professional. It requires a special tool to remove and install the fuel pump "nut", and trust me, if you don't have the tool, you'll never remove the nut without damaging it! However, If you still want to try it, here are the instructions:

You need to drain the fuel tank. Your fuel pump is located there. I think it is about $200.00
