I have a Honda African twin and i think the cdi unit is ready to go as?

when i get up to speed, it starts to lose power, and the rev counter drops from 4 revs to 1 rev, and it comes back again, in the space of 2 too 3 sec, to 4 revs the normal i was doing. someone told me that a quad bike cdi, would do it if it was gone. if you can help please thanking you.

Answers:
I had a CDi go on me what would happen is the engine would not fire above certain revs. This problem would be solved temporarily but replacing the plugs. As for replacing it with a Quad bike CDi, forget it unless its a quad V-twin made in the same year as your Africa. Send me more info on the problem at kchurcher@hotmail.co.uk and i may be able to help you further
ummm scrap it
Before you start stripping the engine, check plugs, ht leads, and that the LT leads to the coil are sound. Also check the coil mounting bolts are clean and tidy.
check earth connections, & plugs/ connections after checking plugs & coil
