Why when fares go up on public transport do the number of passengers go down?
Answers:
Its called the "Law of Diminishing Returns" Not enough people using to make a profit, so charge more to make a profit, less people now use because of higher price! Reduce the price and more people use which gives more profit
they don't. if you use public transport your not going to buy a car because your train ticket went up by 20p
Money!
For example:
When gas prices go up, Wal*Mart sales go down.
Um let me see..oh yeah when the fares go up people refuse to pay it so dont use the service - gosh that was a hard one!
no.ridership does not go down much..are they really going to go back to driving because the fare goes up 25 or 50 cents??
A bit, and so does the glass in bus shelters. No, that happens consistently.
the number of people using public transport goes up and down all the time but for several reasons.holidays reduce the number greatly,if its raining, people often take there cars to avoid getting soaked on there way to work.the increase in fares has little or no effect on volumes of passengers using public transport.more people than ever use public transport because car parks are so expensive and traffic wardens are red hot these days on expired tickets.
