How do people cope without having there own transport??
Answers:
you need to work around public transport, which is pretty good where i live, i have been doing it for the last 4 years, not as easy as your own transport but you will get used to it
The subway is across the street from my apartment complex.
I get to work in less than an hour.
Everyone else here complains about being stuck in traffic.

we have to as some people like me can't even learn to drive and you can use a taxi but it costs abit of money.
my cousin cant drive for a long time because of seizures, he was in the marines but he just recently got out because of medical reasons, he's probably going crazy =( i should go visit him.
its very difficult but you have to cope and it does have its advantages.
walk
Get a bicycle. It doesn't need insurance or a licence, otherwise plan your day to include public transport.

in the USA, don't know what I would do.
in the Philippines, my husband and I rely totally on public transportation. But, of course, we live within walking distance of the mall, the grocery store, and so much else. Actually, I kinda like not having my own car here.
Don't misunderstand me. Many people here own cars and trucks. I, however, am happy to not have one here.

i live in a place with good public transport and nice enough places to walk though when it gets to much i've got good friends who will give me a lift
Use public transport
You need to live in a city like London or Liverpool where public transport is on every corner.
From personal experience, because I don't even have a driver's licence let alone a car; Carpooling, walking, a bicycle and family (when the need arrises).
Yeah, sometimes I regret not having a DL and car, but for the most part, I can't complain. Besides, have you seen the number of idiots out behind the wheel of a car!? I mean, wow! Driving these days is more stressful than waiting for a root canal. The way I figure it, I'm not missing anything by not driving!

OMG, I don't know HOW you will get by. Surely there is a helpline or government funding programme to help you. I hope you manage to survive this time of darkness.
Stay in and never go out !
I have to rely on city buses lots of times, or I walk if I can. Sometimes, I'll ask friends to give me a ride to where I need to go.
