Answers:
Yes, the Var has the same engine and roughly the same tank capacity as the Firestorm which I have owned and had the same problem. Tank range is really crappy and I spent a lot of time worrying about where the next Petrol Station was. I once use the entire tank in about twenty minutes travelling flat out from Enscheda to Osnabruck on the autobahn. When it came time to change bikes I went for an Aprilia RSVR. Yes more expensive but heaps more power and revs and a much better tank range. They also make something similar to the Var check it out.
I'm not much on metrics but my v-max 1200 gets 36 (mpg) highway 32 in town or 22 when riding it hard. solo or two up doesn't seem to matter.
Sell that bloody Honda! Buy something better next.
She gets 300 hectares on a single tank of kerosene.
