What would be a good first time Cruising bike bearing in mind I am 6 feet 3 inches tall.?
Answers:
Go to as many dealers as you can and sit on a bunch of bikes to see which one you're comfortable with.
Also pay attention to the bike's weight. Don't get one so heavy you feel like you have trouble balancing it or can't pick it up if it falls over.
Here's a HUGE collection of pictures of a guy over 6' trying out a bunch of bikes:

I cant suggest any particular model but why not go to a dealer and see what they have and try them for size. Good luck :D
I went straight from my test to a Yamaha Diversion 900 sports tourer. effortless changeover and I'm fairly short, four years of care and problem free biking, the guy I bought it from is 6'4", he found it very comfortable
a bike with a lot of space would help so i think maybe a chopper or a croch rocket
get yourself a yamaha v-star 650. It's wheelbase is longer than the harley road king. I rode one at bike week in daytona.. great bike, plenty of torque, forward controls are far enough away that you won't be cramped.
Harley Road King
honda v 45 or 65 are good bikes
A big guy needs a big bike , you will outgrow anything smaller than a 1100 ,
Sit on 'em all! Don't be in a hurry since you have to live with your choice for a while. Ignore the sales weasel, and go with your gut. (In this case, your legs.) I'm 75" tall and ride a stock FXDWG. (Already comes with FC.) But since it has an 88 cu. in. motor, you may not to go that route just yet. What I ran around on before this was an XL1200C. It had FC stock, but was short, so it was kind like riding a regular bike for me. It only had a 74 cu. in. motor. Best thing though, is sit on all the ones that look good to you. Take your time. Your tush and hips will thank you for it. (One other thing. The longer the bike, the bigger the turn radius. Don't be getting into any u-turn contests on a long wheelbase bike until you got the booger figured out!)
A good touring bike for someone who has just passed his test would be a BMW 650 97/98 F650 model. You can pick one up for about £2000 or less depending on mileage. I'm 6`4`` and the bike has lots of grunt, easy to handle, simple mechanically and with Metzler Tourance tyres handles like a dream. Its a big traily and very comfortable to ride. Supple suspension and very good mpg. I usually get about 55-65 mpg. I use mine to go to work every day rain or shine, summer and winter. Servicing is simple with only the bear minimum of tools and well within the capability's of some one who knows one end of a spanner from another. I have had YDS7 250 Yamaha, 850 Norton Interstate, Two XS 750 Yamaha triples, Enfield 500 and my present bike over the years. Good luck and ride safe.
Give the Honda Pan-Euro a try.
Comfy bike plenty of storage space, goes forever.
The Police ride 'em so that must say something!
I'd consider looking at the Harley Wide Glides. They have a longer wheel base and for someone taller they are really comfortable. I have a friend that is 6'3" and he rode a softtail of 3 weeks and hated it. Took it back to the dealer, and traded it for a wideglide and rides it now rain or shine. And before you say you can handle a BIG bike like that. You don't buy a 4cyl car when you really want a f250 diesel truck, because of the size. Good Luck. and be careful.
hi mate im in the same boat as you i will soon be taking my test im the same height as you currently wanting a big cruising bike for me and my fiancee i love sports bike but because im tall like you i cant stand the riding position but what i hav liked and seem is the Yamah XJ 600 looks nice and sporty with the cruising style riding position if you find one you like maybe you could tell me let me know how you get on if you wouldnt mind email me at gnjl2005@yahoo.co.uk thanx and good luck hope you get what you want
Go to the dealer and sit on different bikes. I have a Yamaha Vstar 650. I am only 5'8 but I feel even if you are 6'3 you have enough room and are not gonna look funny on it. I love my bike, it has enough power so I will not be bored for a long time. I also just passed the test in August. Good luck , have fun and keep the shiny side up !
I am 6ft 2 and ride a honda shadow 750 which is good for me. Before that I had a BMW R100RT which was a good fit.
Avoid sportsbikes and anything by Ducati and they should all fit O.K
Try the Honda Magna 750. Easy to handle, nice and roomy. My husband rode one and he is 6'6"
Hi, I have the same problem.
I'm 6'4", and every bike I sat on at the Harley dealer, I had to rock my whole body to the left to get my right foot on the brake pedal.
So I went the manufactured custom route.
I ended up with a Proper-Chopper Bobber (on my 360). All I had to do was move pegs forward 2", and it fits me just fine.
I'm 6'1", 250lbs and I ride a Victory Kingpin - fantastic bike!
Two of my friends actually did what you are asking about: they passed their tests, and each bought a Victory as their first big bike (one picked his Vegas up from the dealer the same day as passing his test, then rode from London to Birmingham with no problem at all.).
Everyone I know who owns a Victory (myself included!) reckons they are excellent bikes.
Check out the link below for your nearest dealer -
get a Kawasaki ZRX 1100 or 1200,,fantastic all round bike,,great for touring, fast and loads of torque and a nice looking machine..my boyfriend has got one and he's 6'2''
they also do a 400 ZRX to,which is equally as good just a smaller engine..they have a website if you wanna take a look..just type in kawasaki zrxoc..
think sensibly - go for either a yamaha diversion or a suzuki bandit - there are both very good bikes - stay away from plastic missiles - i am 5ft7 and i find some of them uncomfortable
