Where do i and how do i make a first registration on a quad?
Answers:
Hi , quads are becoming more popular for Road use , but there are not that many that are actually road legal in the sense that they have the lights / indicators / reflectors needed under the legislation.
1. if your bike has none of the equipment for road use get a list of the requirements from the DVLA ,
2. you will probably need to get the frame & engine number from the machine ( if not on the paperwork supplied ) .
3. once this is done fill out the paperwork for it and get an inspection report of road worthiness to submit . ( an insurance requirement for bikes not previously made for road use , Engine CC / Power output etc..Tax class ) .
4. once the bike is registered with the DVLA then you can get an MOT / insurance & TAX.be carefull on the road the quad is a very different kind of ride , especially round corners .
If you can get some road training , there are some specific training courses available for Quad road riding.it could save yours or someone elses life.
Enjoy.
Try getting in contact with the DVLA. They'll tell you what you need to do. You can make enquiries via their website
You need to get the apropriate registration forms from the DVLA (major post offices also stock them i beleive). Depending on if it is an import or not it will need either a V55 or a V56 form (if mmory serves me well.)
