Motorcycle tyres.?

1. What are your views and experiences on using remold tyres on a motorbike.

2. Views and experiences on mixing tyres on a motor bike.

I have a srad600 and I have a dunlop on the front and a remold on the rear and I haven't noticed any adverse effects.

Don't listen to all the crap about "I will never use re-moulds because." They are safe as you like. The only problems you get with them is that each pair will differ slightly in feel, and they wear out more quickly. I have raced with remoulds (I presume we are talking Tomahawks here) and those were my only problems. On the road they will be fine. People who tell you not to use them are not giving any reasons why not (they don't de-laminate or blow up).

As for mixing tyres. Not ideal but, if you have to take it very easy to start with, and if they feel fine - they probably mix well.

It's funny, if you go to a club event race paddock you will see people racing with random, part worn tyres - and then ride the wheels off their bikes. It is mainly people bimbling on public roads who feel the NEED to have the best rubber on the market
its already a dangerous occupation i would never ride a bike that has remolds dont care how good they are
remoulds are normally fine on any vehicle. you may have to change them a little more often. but with them being cheaper it won't make it any more expensive than buying proper tyres. just ensure they are made properly.
Well my experiences with retread (on cars and trucks) are mixed, if they did a high quality job then there's no reason why it should give good performance.

For me I have used re-treaded tires my cars and trucks. But it isn't going to fall over in a blow out. Yes I'm the kind of guy who checks his tires every time I get on a bike. Now if I was going to use a re-treaded tire it'd be on the back. I have had a few flats tires and found it was easier to steer when it was a back tire instead of the front. Fortunately they didn't blow just leaked down, and I could tell something was wrong before they were totally flat.

Now if you can get quality re-treaded tired, not band aids (in the US trucker drivers use a lot of re-treaded tires and some companies don't do a good job re-treading so the tread can peel off and whined up on the side of the road kind of like a band aid coming off a finger) from a company you know and trust then you shouldn't have a problem. Just check them every time you ride.
Is your life worth the risk of not spending a few more dollars, just foe safety.
the big differnce is running off road and on rood tyers off roed give more trackson on soft ground where on road give good trackson on saeled roads and might kick you off or drive you onwordes
talkto your bike dealer
i will agree with others answer that you have had. i'm an experiance motorcycle rider with 12years riding 600. please do not use remoulds of any type. front or rear. always use good new tyres on bikes. it not worth the corner cutting or the money saving option on remoulds. i also drive a car. and i mould not use remoulds on them either. let me asks you somthing. have you ever driven down motor ways and seen bits of tyre on the roads. it you can answer yes to this. well they are from re moulded tyres. please dont use them. you have a nice powerfull bike. dont kill your self on it becoz of remoulds. keep the front tyre on. but the next time you rid that bike with the remould. can it be to change it for a new god quality tyre. let's not have a other bike rider killed becoz of bad tyres. have riding freind. please take this advise.
No remould is ever going anywhere near my Bandit 1200. Ideally your front and rear tyres should be matched according to the tyre manufacturer's recommendations. Your remould could be based on a Dunlop carcase, however, which would have the right profile to go with your front. Personally I would never take the chance, your life can depend on it.
We never notice adverse effects until we notice them, Splurge for a rear Dunlop.
Been riding high powered bikes for 20 odd years now and always used to use remoulds. Didn't know you could still get them though!
I can afford Bridgestones now but wouldn't hesitate to use remoulds if money was tight. Certainly wouldn't ride as fast with them as I do with my BT's though! I just wouldn't have the faith in their ability to perform. And if you can't trust your tyres.?
try dunlops
