British Roadways >>>>>>?

UK question,

As you are driving around the UK roads, you see these posts, on the road sides, or in fields, around 2mt high with roof shaped tops , in bright Hi Viz orange, these are clearly facing upwards, they sometimes have numbers or letters on the top face,,

Can anyone tell me what they are and there function,,

Thanks

Answers:
they are marker posts showing the location of service ducts, ie where electric cable run under the road.
Bird shelters for when it rains!
If your talking about the ones on the sides on motor ways. the number and letters are for reference for when you break down. you can quote these numbers and the break down people know where you are. the arrows are to point you to the nearest SOS phone. saves you walking bloody miles
