This is one of those questions that have no definate answer. Yes, the tech is there. BUT.current fuel costs make this prohibitive, even if charging alot of cash per ticket. Plus now there is a new commercial race: Who can get to suborbital and orbital flight first? R&D is going through that avenue before they will do a next generation supersonic airliner. And for a few that answered this question before I did, the Concorde has been retired for quite some time now.biggest reason was that crash that happened some years back, but if it would not have been retired because of that, the fuel costs would have done it in.
there already is. just not available for civilian use. you'll have to join the military for the fun of that.

Yes, there is right now. It is the concorde in french but not many airport make this aircraft available because of it's taking of and landing noise. It is in british airways.

There will be of course. But now, the global attention is onto fuel efficiency and maximum passenger efficiency. The concorde failed the first one and became too expensive for the second one. however, there are rumors that boeing is in the works of producing a supersonic aircraft. probably the 797.
for sure~ probably and i hope all commercial aircrafts will be able to do supersonic speeds in 10-20 years time. but the faster it travels, the more risks there is. so. boeing and airbus and all other aircraft manufacturers should be real careful before launching another supersonic jet. don't let the story end like the concorde!
