Can anyone tell me how to stop front carpets getting soaked when it rains hard in my peugeot 306 2001 model?

Don't know about yours but this is the second Peugeot i've had and i find that when it rains the water runs in through the window if i have it open,this also happens when i use my screen washers.Also my 405 leaked in the sunroof if it did'nt shut properly
There are many ways rain can get into the car.
It could be a leak around an opening (doors, windscreen, side windows, sunroof).
However, a common one is through the heater / ventilation system.
This will have a drain to allow rain to flow out of the system. If this drain is blocked, the rain runs to the next-lowest outlet, which is the footwell vents. A Haynes manual should help you locate the drain, then all you have to do is clear it.

sounds like a design fault,,,but even new cars will leak slightly during very very heavy rain..MGFs were pronbe to that and the early tigras
I've never known it to rain hard inside a car before - you could have a unique vehicle!
Seriously though - you have a leak! Get someone to spray a hosepipe over the car while you sit inside and see if you can see the water as it comes in. It can be very hard to find leaks!! Check windscreen, sunroof, pipes coming through bulkhead and, of course, the floorpan - in case it is damaged! The water could be running behind trim panels before it arrives at your carpet - so be prepared for a major search!!

CHECK FOR MISSING GROMMETS UNDER THE CARPET, IF THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT 2ND HAND THEN THEY PROBABLY WERE REMOVED BY THE PAST OWNER FITTING SOME PART.
yes mine did the same get a stanley blade an make a cut in the rubber seal about 4 inches long where yiu think it might be coming in mine was coming in just at the bottom near the hinge side but at the bottom
Check the drainage holes under the bonnet, just under the windscreen, these regularly get blocked by leaves, i have the same problem with my ageing vauxhall, they just need cleaning out
remove the carpet or just park the car in the garage
