Why is my engine oil psi so high?

Why is my engine oil psi so high? What reasons could cause this and how do i rectify?

Answers:
The pressure sender could have failed you need to test with a manual pressure gauge and see what the actual pressure is. Then go only to the Volkswagon dealer who has the correct oil pressure sending unit. about a 2 on a 1-10 difficulty standard. You have to have the car lifted. so be safe use jack stands Warning oil will run out when you remove the sender.
what are you using 0/30 oil? is it pd oil or do you need long life oil.
Need more info make, model, year, different cars have different specs, if its not running bad and not having any trouble its probably normal. As long as when you idle it drops and then gets high as you accellerate and get up to speed. hope this helps if not pls give my details. good luck
could be tat you have an aftermarket oil pressure metre that is wrong for the car, some can be adjusted. Has your car been fitted with high output oil pressure pump? Some people do that to gain oil pressure on an aged engine.
oil pressure relief valve is stuck shut and not relieving over pressure.
Your oil gauge might be off or your oil pressure sending switch is not working properly. Oil pressure sending switch is the cheapest to replace I would try this first.
how high?
Need more info on car, engine, mileage, etc. The higher the pressure, the better on large engines.
change oil or add some more oil
what do u call high? and when? all the time or just when cold? which model car you driving as well.
