Anybody know a safe, inexpensive way of boosting power for a 2003 BMW 330 sport convertible?
Answers:
Don't try to outsmart BMW engineers---if you want a faster BMW, buy a faster BMW. All you will do is bastardize your 330ci, which is not meant to be a drag racer but rather an elegant GT/autobahn car.
Why you bought a 300ci if you wanted to go extra fast is puzzling.the 330 is heavier than the 325 and the convertible heavier than the sedan, so you already made two big compromises for comfort rather than speed---and now you want the speed back..?
I don't think you are thinking clearly on this subject. Chew on what I've written a bit and leave the car alone. I'd rather see you make some handling improvements if you wish---as the racer boys says "good suspension and brakes is worth 50 horsepower on the track". And they are right.
And for god's sake don't put any K&N crap on the car.
If you MUST do something, get a chip from DINAN and leave it at that.
try an fse power boost valve- this will increase acceleration- also a k&n induction kit or pipercross induction kit to add up to fifteen bhp
Chrome as much of the engine parts as you can.
Rip the guts out of it - seats, carpet, parcel shelf console to lighten it. That's pretty cheap to do.
If you can afford a Beemer don't do an injustice to it by scrimping on the good bits.
Better exhaust, Induction kit, High flow cat
Drive it down a steep hill
First mate ..don't go cheep .. you have a good car so spend good money on it.. Try a Re-chip from a M3 or M5.!.. that will do the trick .. just hold on tight ..zzzzzzoooooooommmmmm!
NOZ! Or a chip.
Deffinitely a better exhaust kit. This will allow your engine to breath better, give you better performance, and will also sound great!
Just convince yourself that you have just spent a large amout of cash on it and get an Alpina badge.
Ask Fred Flintstone how he does it
