my friend has a kawasaki ZX-7R, R reg. anyway when he goes round town and the engine temperature rise's, his fan kicks in. depending on how hot the engine is, sometimes it will leak a small puddle of coolant on the floor. It doesn't do it all the time though. I have the same bike and have never had this problem. He doesn't lose any power, just coolant when he switches off. what could be causing this? any suggestions?
Answers:
well, hes either overfilled teh rad, or the thermostat is knackered, or (scary stuff) the head gasket is about to go. (or has just gone) engine rujns, pressurises the crankcases, and throws either water or oil on the floor.
sounds like an overfill, the header bottle needs to be checked. hot water expands, with the lump running its moving it around the engine, when it all stops, all that extra water has to go somewhere doesn it?
good luck.
most likely a gasket gone on the heads or maybe a faulty coolant pipe work sum were on the coolant system easy way to do is strip panels of and trace the leak fill it with water and wait for the leakage probably wear and tear
