Is it legal to wear a bike helmet on a motorcycle? Thanks! Mel?
Answers:
No, To ride a motorcycle in the UK you need to wear a helmet that conforms to BSA standards (kite mark) for motorcycles. You also HAVE to have the chin strap done up on your helmet or it is illegal to ride. A stringent traffic police officer could slap you with a fixed penalty notice costing you £30.
ummmmm yess
In the UK it is a legal requirement to wear a helmet whenever you are on a motorbike.
No, they are made different and a bike doesn't go as fast as a motorcycle so the helmet may not stay on and be as protective when you hit your head on the pavement going 75 miles per hour.
Simply put - no.
They are two very different helmets and you're going to want to be protected right?
Make sure you wear the right one for the right type of cycle.
Good luck and be safe.
yes.its the law
no bike helments are designed for a low impact motorcycle helments are designed for a greater impact. I once asked what price helment to buy the vendor said if you got a $2 head buy a $2 helment
yes a bicycle helmet does not meet the required standards,
you need a motorcycle helmet, with the EU standard or UK standard , the USA Snell standard is not legal in UK
No. They are not designed to take an impact from a motorcycle crash. You need to wear a regulation motorcycle helmet.
Your MOTORCYCLE helmet has to have the BSA kite mark in the UK - and the safety code relevant to motorcycles - not push bikes.
However - if you are on a trike and you wear a seatbelt you can wear a sock on your head if you like as it is not required by law for you to wear a helmet - as long as the seatbelt is approved and being worn.
yes you have to wear a helmet and you must have passed a cbt test to ride a motorbike
no
no

wear a football helmet
That totally depends on which state you are riding in and your age. A bicycle helmet is not DOT approved so if you have a mandatory helmet law it would not be legal. However if there are no helmet laws for your state and age then yes you may, although it will afford little to no protection. Go the extra couple bucks and get a helmet that will do the job it is designed for. Your head will thank you the first time you go down.
For a D.O.T. approved helmet there is a sticker on the helmet somewhere (usually the back of it) and inside you will find a tag that also states if it is DOT approved normally.
The law in Idaho simply states that any passenger under the age of 18 must wear a DOT approve helmet at all time when on the motorcycle. The fine for failure to comply is roughly $500 and the operator risks being charged with child endangerment also. In Nevada not wearing a DOT approved helmet by any motorcyclist is a $300 fine (found this out when two friends were picked up in Jackpot).
No. a bicycle helmet is constructed much differently than a motorcycle helmet, and will not protect you at motorcycle speeds. In the American states where motorcycle helmets are required, their design and construction must be approved by the DOT (US Department of Transportation) for use as motorcycle helmets. Other countries have different, but similar standards for motorcycle helmets.
Actually, this is a common-sense issue and if you don't have the common sense to immediately realize that a bicycle helmet is not the right thing to wear on a motorcycle (even a small one ) then perhaps you should buy a new skateboard instead.
In New York State , Motorcycle riders must wear a D.O.T. aproved helmet..Its the law and the fines are huge. It sucks but it is the law.
sure you can wear a bicycle helmet on a motorbike, you just cant ride it with one on!
