I have a cr*ppy old Ford Mondeo and the alarm keeps going off in the middle of the night for no reason. This doesn't bother me cos I sleep on the other side of the building, however my neighbours can hear it only too well and they are understandably getting p*ssed off. The alarm is linked to the central locking, so every time I lock the doors the alarm is armed. Also the alarm has no independant on/off switch. Obviously I can't leave the car unlocked at night so, does anyone know how I can disconnect the alarm? The obvious answer is a mechanic I know, but I can't afford that right now.

look for the siren and just chop the fcukker out
Dont you have a key to the alarm box under the bonnet? Unless you know what you are doing, you have to go to a mechanic, in case you interfere with the wrong wire
If memory serves, it's the horn on the car that makes the noise, if so, just disconnect 1 wire from the horn at night til you can get it fixed,
(remember to put it back on in the morning tho')
the alarm goes off due to change in air pressure, make sure all the windows are close and close all the vents in the car, this should solve the problem
