How soon must a motor accident be reported to the insurance company?

Answers:
Most companies do not state an exact time limit to report an accident. They usually say within a reasonable time period.
IMMEDIATELY NOT OVER 24 HRS. TO CLAIM
reasonable time period is usually what is in most policy language. (you're policy should state if it's otherwise.) but, the question you want to ask yourself, what does your insurance company consider reasonable time period? to help yourself & help your claim, it's usually best to just report it as soon as possible. also, a lot of companies allow the other party to file the claim with your insurance company if they think you were at fault, or if they are trying to put the fault on you. it looks much better if you came up first and gave your side 1st.
To protect your rights, you should do it as soon as absolutely possible.
If you are at fault, your insurer will pay to defend you and that lawyer needs to start work as soon after the accident as possible in defending you.
So, don't wait.
