What annoys train commuters most besides late trains ?
Answers:
Men who sit with their legs wide open so that if you are lucky to get a seat you are squashed or unlucky as they wont close their legs and let you sit down anyway.
Standing up with my nose in someones sweaty arm pit!
Tin Tin music from others.
Chewing gum on seats.
Heating on full blast on the hottest day of the year.
And the silent farts.
And that was just my journey home tonight!
noisy mutants that ride with you
People who don't wash!
Those deadly silent farts..
smells.
The hobo that lives in on the subway, who yells "get out of my house" when you sit close to him! lol
Getting off track and losing their train of thought. Sometimes trains do things they are not supposed to and have to cover their tracks. Being late would be the number one answer I suspect if you have to be at work on time.
People with headphones on max or even listening to songs with the speaker function of their mobiles on. Grrrrr!
People who eat smelly food on the train.
Really loud music in earphones.
Smelly or fat people squeezing into tiny seats next to you.
Sitting on dirt from when people have had their feet on the seat.
i get the train every day to work, the thing that really gets on my nerves are the people that sit in the isle seat, puts their bag on the window seat, then refuses to give up that spare seat to anyone.
oh and first class passengers do my head in, they think because they paid more for their ticket they can treat "normal" people like shite, pushing and shoving people out the way so they can get to their little first class cabbin.
Mobile phones
All of the above.
people who run to the empty seats thinking if they dont get one they are gonna die if they stand
Loud conversations on mobile phones.
Lots of things.
When you go into the station in the morning you can smell the pee from some drunk who has relieved himself in the area.
People who will not stop whistling, especially whistling Elvis, that really grates me!!!!
When someone gets on next toyou and starts letting off silent but violent farts, that is sick. Although I must say, it can be funny if you are the guilty party, so that one is a 2 way street.
Ticket collectors who ask to see your ticket every 10 minutes, even although the same person looked at it the last time.
dirty surrounding, slow speed.
Train companies not spending any money on the upkeep of carriages and not bothering to add carriages to trains at rush hour so we all end up roasting, standing crushed up against each other for however long it takes to get home
the price
I traveled by bus to london retrun for £10 and then paid £6 to travel across the city one way
personal stereos, Ipods etc that are not so personal! Also people shouting down their mobile phones.
Annoying little schoolboys EVERY MORNING having farting competitions in the stuffy train - it's rancid.
In London? People who say 'good morning' to you.
UK girlie.there is one way (and only one) to deal with some scuzz with his bag on a seat. Put it on the table, telling him you didn't pay to stand next to a seated bag.
Mobiles on Speaker
Headphones only annoy within a limited range - a speaker phone can be heard through the carridge
(Train companies not spending any money on the upkeep of carriages and not bothering to add carriages to trains at rush hour so we all end up roasting, standing crushed up against each other for however long it takes to get home) - That isn't all the fault of the rail companies. The DfT accountants in Whitehall have to sign off all train company expenditure and recently has been refusing to allow improvements (eg: blocking Virgin from lengthening Voyagers, The new TransPennine Trains are 3 coaches instead of the requested 4 - and 5 trains less then needed, South West Trains growth order being cut back from 30 5 coach trains to 17 four coach trains etc)
Well, considering I live in Sydney, Australia - having an unairconditioned train turn up in summer in temperatures exceeding 40 degrees celcius. That and also the fact that Sydney doesn't have an extensive tram network or underground metros, just trains that, at their most frequent are always about 5-10 minutes apart instead of arriving every 90 seconds.
The horrendous cost of tickets and the general lack of information when things go wrong.
Number one, when people get onto train playing their music out on loudspeaker for everyone on the carriage to hear - and it's not even decent music it's loud thumping "ching ching" music.
Moody train staff selling tickets, making sarcy comments and generally finding it way too much effort to answer any questions or look into anything.
Competitions on platforms to line yourself up properly to get on the trains first, and then when they don't line up with people they barge themselves in front to get to a seat first!
Biggest moan, my rail operator have recently dumped perfectly decent trains for brand new trains, are they a step up? No. Less seats, hot, tiny windows, no air.. No grab rails in the big open standing areas, leg cramp if you perch on the perch seats. Generally a dreadfull experience.
i travel on southwest trains. who have a 99% on-time record at the moment.. the only major thing that annoys me is some pleb, talking loudly on his/her mobile for all to hear. grrrrr!
the requirement of wearing clothing
maybe toilets or why don't you ask them
the price really gets on my nerves!its like £25 edinburgh to dundee comapired to £3 with citylink busses
The same things that annoy the train workers ie Engineers, conductors, brakemen.LOUD cellphone conversations, people who dump their garbage on the floor and people who drink too much & let go all over the floors..
Getting a shitey class 314 set instead of a 334 Juniper set.
no seats at the station
