Which would you buy?

a 2004 volvo S40, 1.9 tdi with all leather, air con etc, 35,000miles for €20,000 or a 2002 Audi A4, 1.9tdi, air con, alloys, 89,000 miles for €19,000?

I think it depends of the condition of the car and ur personal needs/favorite i would go for an volvo s40 because volvo has a reputation that they are very hard to destroy

An A4 for €19,000 is a horrible deal; especially when it's got 89,000 miles on it. Besides, Volvo's are better cars. They last longer, and break down less.

I prefer audi's but go for the volvo. Volvo's are very reliable and that is a bargain price for the age an mileage! The audi has done almost twice the mileage and is 2 years older. Plus the volvo might even have some warrenty left!

Considering the age and mileage difference, you'd be a fool to pick the audi. 89k is hefty mileage for a car that price, and although the Audi is undeniably the perceived better machine (although mechanically there really sin't that much in it) it's got more than double the mileage, and at 89K, your looking at having to start spending money on brakes, clutches and other higher mileage bills.
Also, the Volvo's paint / corrosion will be that much better since it's 2 years younger.

Also check out the VW Passat and Skoda Octavia, I have a vRS and you wouldn'tbelieve how good it actually is.

Audi, save your self the 1000 Euro. Diesel engines are strong and robust don't be put off by the long mileage its good for twice that and more.
