Why do car makers show you a price in an ad and then says below(small print) model shown is a different one?

Answers:
good point i have always hated that about car adds too

the model they show is the suped up version

they are naughty naughty very naughty should be banned but they do tell us at the bottom still hate it thou the basis cheap models are always crap
It's to get you to look at the car. It's called Sales & Marketing!
so they can drag more money out of you when you realise that the advertised price comes with no extras that you want..
the world is driven by greed
it is the same concept as the old bait and switch routine. they lure you in with one thing then get you to buy something else.. either a cheap piece of junk or something that is too expensive.
That's referred to as "the bait and switch". It's the same reason they advertise the monthly payments but not the actual cost of the car. They hope you won't notice the small print, and only put it there to cover their butt.
If they showed the actually model that you would get for the base price money, no body would enquire. It's a marketers trick.

The one in the advert has smart, big alloy wheels, metalic paint, body kits etc. In reality these are the things that most people want. If they showed a car with small hubcaps, plain white paint and black plastic bumpers, no body in there right mind would conseider going to look at the car.

Hope this helps.
The picture they use is a stock picture from the PR materials of the company. They use these for two reasons.

1) The PR model always looks great and has tons of options that dress it up, so it is more attractive.

2) It is far easier and cheaper to load an already processed image into an ad, than it is to take a an actual picture of the vehicle.
well its cos the one we get is ..

subject to rust like hell on day 2 of the lapsed 6 year anti corrosion warranty,
also ,
your paintwork will scratch if you fart near it , where as the advertised one will just haze and then go back to spnky shiny paintwork.

also because there is a good chance that you will sue them when yours ends up on the back of a lorry ,and you are concerned cos in the advert you see the very same car ,driving in the desert, in alaska ,even on a drive in basingstoke.
thats a lotta miles.
so they ensure you know that yours is different, and very crap by comparison ,they know full well it wont go to far without its own tow truck.

And whats wrong with little hub caps ,white panels and black bumpy bits..tell that to the paramedic when he saves yer butt
because if they showed the model they were talking about they would go bust because nobody would want there crap
the price is for the base model. the one shown is the model with all the optional add-ons.
It's known as marketing.
