When i start my focus in afternoon when been stood all morning theres a ticking sound?

I often find by the afternoon i am having trouble with my focus :-)
its just the valve,s tapping a little,,most of them do it,,it could also be a loose spark plug wire,,and what your hearing is the fire jumping to ground,,i had a tempo that did that,,a;so look real close at your belt,s,,if one get,s a little damage on the edge of it,,one of those string,s that are made in it will come loose on the edge,,and slap around,,and it will sound like that too,,if it start,s getting louder,,you may need to take it to the repair shop,,and have them look at it,,just to be sure,,hope this help,s.
you must have alot of miles onit as this is usually caused by the loss of oil pressure thru the bearings, pump etc. you can try replaceing the oil pump or try the oil product made by lucus its highly reccomended. it will not just run off like regular oil, find it at a parts store.
Buy a better watch.
dodge man a mechanic for 35 years? hard to believe says it could be a spark plug on a diesel? don't take your car to him!
probably hydraulic tappets, oil warmer in afternoon therefore thinner, not creating enough pressure at the tappets, change your oil this will probably quieten things down!
That could be a couple different things. you could be low on oil, valves may be tapping a little, could just be a jump spark (open your hood at night, and see if you see a spark anywhere, or it could just be one of your gages are going.they start making a tapping sound.
Ive just had my focus serviced and ive noticed this sound i think it could be down to the ac needing charging. seems to make this sound with the air con on! not a mechanic but if yours is not as cold as it should be then it could be this? ds
Change your oil before you try more extreme measures may cure it
starter motor probably sticking on key turn, is it an auto ?
battery or starter motor definitely get both checked asap. dose it start after a while
may be sticky hydrolic tappet check the oil level
