Why do Ducati call their bikes"V twins".?
Answers:
Two identical Cyls configured in a 90 degree V arrangment. L twin not just a wide V But the BMW bike is horizonally opposed 180 degree V or I or what the heck!
because it still looks kinda of v twin
I know - they are simply not V twins, but then Harleys arent motorcycles!
Well - to be really picky.
To resemble a capital 'L' , one cylinder would have to be marginally shorter than the other, so it must be a 'V'
I think if you look at the letter "L" you will notice that the vertical line is longer than the horizontal line
Both terms are used, and are equally valid.
I agree with Darren. They do call them L twins.
It actually looks kinda like a V-7..and darn i coulda had a V-8.

Because any sharper than 90 degrees and they start SPLITTING HAIRS!
You get bored easily, don't you?
Idiots always want to bring this up. The standard designation for any motor thats shaped in a Vee no matter if its 45/60/90/120 or anything in between is considered a V and if a twin a V twin. This is just another ducati elitist thing from the posing crowd, true Duc riders no its a bunch of crap.
That is the name of that configuration. So, its asking why a blue whale cannot swallow an orange. "That's just the way it is, and there's not a damn thing you can do about it". ;-)
It does not mater what the degree is, it is still a V twin ! Don't be such a dumb f*ck !
