Lots of bikes have the same problem. The transmission gears, shafts, shift drums and shift forks can be worn just a little. Especially on high mileage bikes such as yours.
Rev the engine and shift gears when the rpms are slowing down..
When the rear wheel is moving, the gears on the counter shaft are applying pressure to the gears on the main shaft. The main shaft is turning from the turning of the crankshaft (engine, piston and rings). The 2 transmission shafts are turning with different forces against each other. The engine is turning, locking the transmission gears of the two shafts, trying to turn the rear wheel. When you rev the engine, the gears aren't applying force against each other making it easier to shift.
Either learn to live with the problem, or have the transmission serviced.
