On a peugeot 206 1999 model. what does LX D mean please?
Answers:
LX is the model of the 206, which is actually okay. D is for diesel (TD is turbo diesel)
Peugeot are renowned for making excellent diesel engines that will last for hundreds of thousands of miles, even if you only take basic care of it.
Chances are high that the engine will outlast the chassis considerably!
The economy of the diesel engine is def worth it. costs the same to fill the tank but you'll find you get a lot more miles out of it.
Nice car, economical, pleasant to drive. What more could you ask for?!
(ps peugeot made engines for prost in the formula 1 seasons '98,'99 and 2000) can't be bad!
Luxury Diesel
LX usually means it'll be better than an L which is usally the basic model.
Perhaps the LX will have electric sunroof or air conditioning.
The D will mean diesel. which is a variation on petrol. but worse!
D means diesel. I think LX means it's the basic model.
Peugeot, like many manufacturers simply use a coding system to differentiate models. L LX GLX etc is simply one of these. Some manfacturers do intend to make the codes 'mean' something eg Ford RS = Rallye Sport, GT = Grand Tourismo, etc.
There is nothing to stop you attaching an abbreviation to LX if you wanted to, thats part of the 'ownership' plan. Though to some calling a model a 'Luxury eXtra' for example, may highlight a distinct lack of ambition and Style, unless you consider that to be the case.
