Should motorcycles have a registration plate on the front and not just the back of it?

They speed so fast on the roads and others things, Personally I think they should have one on the front what do you think and why? Just a curious question

Answers:
So your reasoning for requiring a front plate would be beacuse the drivers speed? Honestly, if they are going that fast, you're not going to be able to read the plate anyhow.
It all depends on the regulations in your state.
they ust to have them years ago but they ran along the length of the mudguard they were banned because when the bike hit a pedestrian it use to slice into them they were made of metal in those days
no they shouldn't they are exempt from front number plts as they were found to decapitate the rider in accidents
front plates were banned in the 70's as they cause injury to pedestrians if they are stupid enough to walk out in front of us and get hit
no years a go they were fitted on the front as was declared to dangerous it was on the front mudguard.it would now look naff and 2 there is no way of mounting one on the front with out many changes
The problem with only having the plate on the front is that drivers need to look backwards to see it. Mostly, I drive facing forward so the safest way for me to check someone's plate is if they have a plate on the rear and I am behind them.
This is why some states require front plates but ALL require a rear one on all street legal vehicles.
No there is no sense in it. The idiots that speed think the police won't get them but they forget about the black box the police have it is called radio. The cops can read the plate, radio the number in and have a full sheet of information on the individual in a few seconds. If the guy (or girl) jackrabbits the call goes out and they set up blockades to apprehend the biker. A plate in front would not be an answer. Now trucks on the other hand, only have a tag on the front.what's with that?
what good would that do, no definitely not
Hi >
That question was resolved a long time ago by legislation, when it transpired that if you bumped into a pedestrian, say, with a front pointing No. plate, serious cutting of flesh usually resulted.
Pleased to see the back of them, not the front one.
They are pointless in recognising the ident of the bike anyway, when following it.
Hence in certain states of the USA, they are not required on any vehicle. Fairly pointless items, and a lot of European cars now come with no provision for a front reg. plate.

Seems altogether sensible.

There has been various debate on this subject, which is almost always universally frowned upon by the biking community for many reasons, but the big 3 are:
1. Safety, as previously posted
2. Bikers think it'll aesthetically spoil the look of their bike
3. Many (the majority of, I think) speed cameras in the UK are front facing :)

Personally, regarding (3) I like to keep my licence and bike intact, so I don't (excessively) speed on public roads, I save that for the track. (2) I think you could cover my bike in plates it'd it's still look good, and (1) I am sure the boffins can come up with a safe alternative these days, but all in all, there is no real need.
Suppose you had to have one, where would you put it on a naked bike? (a bike without plastics/bodywork) it is not feasable! apart from where they used to be years ago on the front mudguard and then as said previously you could slice people apart! and they still wouldnt be visible to speed cameras
no bloody no in england they were called BACON SLICERS, because thats what they did
Absolutely not. They mess up the aerodynamics something chonic which is really quite critical on a two wheeler. You could fit a stick-on type, but they mess up the paintwork and look awful. No they are quite unnecessary!
the front reg plates on bikes aparently used to be known as cheese graters..dnt fancy being the pedestrian tryin tht theory out.so erm no!! also if the bikes doin 180 odd mph dwn the dual carraigeway gd luck readin the reg!!
The government are quite happy that we don't have front number plates. You're only going to see the back of a bike for long enough to make any difference anyway. Try one, they rock.
you're obviously the type of person that dislikes motorcycles altogether. I'm sure you would have them removedfrom the road completely if possible.
I think the last year reg plate on the front of british motorcylces were inforced was around M reg.
The reg plates where mounted on the front so the reg number could only be read from the side of the bike!. So from the front profile of the bike, you have something that could be a weapon- cutting up people!.
Some bikes during that period had put one accross the yokes so that it could be read from the front.

I dont think its illegal to put a reg plate on the front of your bike, mounted similar fashoin as a car.BUt most bikers wont bother. Its only classic and vintage restorers who put reg plate on the front.
Personally i wouldnt bother putting a reg plate on the front. I like the thought that i can set off speed camaras at 45mph in a 30mph zone and waist film!. Look at it this way , every biker that waists film is one less car driver getting a ticket!.

Although they could enforce it in a similar fashion as L plates.. so most sports bikers would mont them on the fork leg.
Really the problem is the law enforcement etc are happy to make money from the symtoms of vehicle crime insted of enforcing that ALL vehicles sold or used in this country can only do a max of 80mph restricted, and that all vehicles must have a black box that will slow down vehicles in calming areas.
No. And no offence, but butt out.
NO ! We are disciriminated enough , I am a female rider have ridden for over 30 yrs and have had no speeding tickets not been stopped for any reason , as I am careful and love riding my Triumph Thunderbird Combo also I want to carry on riding it!!, I must admit I weave through traffic on the M25 but thats because I can , leave us alone , catch the car drivers who don't look properly AYE!!
