At what age can a child ride pillion on a a 50cc scooter?

Answers:
Providing your child can put both feet onto the foot pegs without stretching then he is OK . there is no legal age limit but the foot peg thing is a requirement . you must also be the holder of a full motorbike licence to be able to carry a pillion .
A child can not ride legally as a passenger on any size bike, unless the child can safely rest his feet on the passenger foot pegs here in Michigan.

Additionally, in Michigan, if the 50cc bike is registered as a moped, then you can not carry a passenger legally. If the very same vehicle is registered as a motorcycle, then you can carry a passenger. Just further proof the law is not keeping up with advances in motor bikes.
same in the uk, feet must reach foot rests and do you have a full licence? if no do not do it.
they shouldn't be allowed to. my daughter is almost 9 and i would never allow her to ride pillion on a motorbike. And it not a case of i dont like bikes as i have 1, just dont think children riding pillion should be allowed.

The law will differ based on where you are. In Texas, there is no law for a minimum age to ride as a passenger on any vehicle. If they are under 18, they must have a helmet that meets DOT specs to ride, and the smallest helmet I know of is for about a 6 to 8 year old.

My kids rode on my bikes when they were fairly young, usually starting by riding on the tank in front of me until they could reach the footpegs for the rear seat. I don't recommend this, and it is illegal in some areas, but I did it and my kids all have survived. 3 of them now have licenses, and two more are interested in them. Giving kids rides is a great family activity and will help get future generations involved in motorcycling.
It all depends on what part of the world you are in. I have seen instances on my travels where an entire family have been transported on a 50cc scooter, and I'm talking large family, from infants to grandma.
As long as the child can comfortably reach the foot rests he is deemed in the eyes of the law as old enough to ride pillion
To have a pillion on the back of you scooter then you must have a full bike licence. And if you are stupid enough to carry a child of any age on the back of that bike. Then you should never of been givern that licence in the first place.
