What is the difference between tachodisc types?

some tachodiscs are paper, some the new ones work
with a computor.disc
One type has a pear shaped hole in the center and the other has 2 small holes which sit on two pins inside the tachograph head one is veeder root and the other is kienzle the pin type has nearly died out now
some are ones that record your hours speed etc in which you fill in and other ones are electronic read outs
