Can road traffic officers hide behind something when clocking your speed, this is for marked and unmarked cars

They can hide all they want. You can't be caught breaking the law if your not. As for the other ?- this is what I found,
we can request to inspect all of the following from the police station:
The radar unit's calibration and maintenance records;
The police officer's radar training certification;
The tuning fork used to calibrate the radar unit, and the calibration certificate of the fork;
The actual radar unit that was used.
The police station's FCC (Federal Communications Commission) license;
List of models, makes and serial numbers of all radar units being used by the police station.
By law, you have the right to examine such evidence. Then we go to the formal hearing and discuss our case with the Prosecutor and Police Officer
There is NO requirement for the police to make themselves be seen inorder to catch offenders of the law. This applies to ALL infractions of the law, not just traffic laws.
Yes they are allowed to hide anywhere they want. In my area, there is a speedtrap where the police department got permission from a homeowner to park in their driveway to catch speeders. They must show you the calibration records upon request. This shows the last time the machine was checked for errors. LOL, there have been trees speeding at 80 mph by some laser guns.
Police officers do not have to be in view to detect a violation. You may ask for the calibration data in court but not at the time you are given the ticket.
they dont have to make themselves visible as your license is a privilage not a right. As far as the certification goes only if you yourself are either an engineer that works specificaly with lazers or are a certefied individual have the right to ask someone for certification, all they have to do is show you that the equipment was working.
Unmarked police can clock you without revealing who they are because the speed checks are carried out on stretches of road that warn you that police speed checks are likely. If you do not heed this advice, it's your own lookout. The police will show their calibration certificate if requested in court, however, guess what.
Even if the instrument is out of calibration, that doesn't necessarily negate the officers testimony.

Whether or not they can hide depends on your location. The state of Ohio requires the police to sit in the open and requires all cars used for enforcement be marked.
There is no requirement for any police or road safety officer to make their presence known when setting up a roadside speed check. The local authorities have placed speed camera signs in many locations around the UK which meets with their statutory duties. Bottom line is, if you speed and you are caught, there is no excuse - your nicked!!
a camera can only be hidden if there are clear road signs indicating that there are speed cameras on that stretch of road! a lot of tickets have been taken back in a court because of this ruling not being adhered to!!
