Are road sweepers heavy goods vehicles and can they legally run on red diesel?

as with any vehicle any thing over 7.5 tonne gross weight is classed as an HGV as for running on red diesel if you are driving on a public road in the UK it is illegal.

Red diesel is in fact only for agriculture vehicles IE farm vehicles, they do run on public roads, have you ever been stuck behind a tractor on a public road, there is your answer.
red diesel is called "Off Road Diesel " so nope you cant is is just meant for heavy equipment and farm equipment stuff that doesnt use the roads
