hold on.i asked this same questions.i'll post my answers for you.

Try some T-Cut. This is brilliant if the scratches really are very light. It also works if paintwork is looking dull. You can also find polishes that match the colour of your car.

turtle wax colour works well

if you go to Wal-Mart, they have some cover-up scratch paint that comes in a tube. you can just put a little on a rag and rub it into the paint on your car. i've used some before and it works.

try rubbing compound an an electric buffer just keep doing till they r buffed out

If there's no second color visible in the scratch, you can usually get by with the buffing compound they've got. If it's all the way through the paint, stop by an auto body shop and see what they'll do for you.some will color-match and fill scratches pretty cheap, and buff it out for you, some car dealerships, too, depending on if they do bodywork/cosmetic repairs. Ask around, let your fingers do the walking.

Just saw an infomercial about some miracle product. You wipe it on and it is supposed to fill scratches. I'm not much help, didn't pay attention, and can't say if it does all they claim.

There is a product called 3-M machine glaze sold at good car part stores that applied with a buffer will remove light scratches. It costs about 40.for a quart so be prepared and the 3 part system will cost you around 100.but it works and is worth it.There are several different levels of this product so pick the ones that fit your need.Be careful with rubbing compound it will dull a brilliant finish with thousands of tiny scratches use a good product if you have a beautiful finish.Good Luck!

If the scratches are not into the Primer coat, there are many products available.Your wallet and the amount of effort you are willing to apply come into play.Rubbing Compound comes in various grades. It can be applyed by hand or with a Buffing wheel.Or learn the differance between Wax and Polish.Wax is the LAST Thing Applyed,it is a Finish coat!Severe case of scratching require wet sanding with "WET" paper, followed by "Rub Out" and then, finally a good quality Wax.

Use rubbing compound, it takes out the scratches and leaves the paint. Wax afterward, you'll find both items together at any auto
why not t cut it is the best and workd wonders on my care!
yeah i agree, dont be lazy and t-cut it , wont take long, then put colour magic on and seal with a polymer wax
I have just used a car polish with colour. It was recommended to me by a mechanic. Really works and worth the price.
You can get 'Turtle Wax - Scratch restorer' which is like a solvent toothpaste that removes the edge of surface scratches (only those that don't reveal the base coat) to make them less visible.. if its more than a scratch like a 'key line' best to get it touched up with the same paint. as once you go through the paint layer to the sub coat you are vulnerable to rusting..
A petroleum based car wax should work - it's a bit easier on the paint than T-Cut however it does help to merge in any small blemishes.
sell the car then buy an identical one without the scratches! No messing about or hard work trying to polish them out.
Voila!! ;o)
After reading through the answers and seeing all these "cheap NON WORKING" retail products named I have to add my 2 cents.

Colored wax? HAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHA
This is shoe polish folks..nothing more! Suckers to marketing are born every minute.

Go to a auto body supply store or auto paint supply store. Get some Finesse II. Use this polymer compound with either a white wool pad or a compound foam pad along with a high speed buffer.

If you do not have a high speed buffer or lack the skill in using one, take your car to a detail shop or a body shop and allow them to do a full buff out.

To remove scratches it takes product and heat. Hand nor orbital polisher will ever produce enough to remove imperfections, it will only mask them.

After a good buffing with Finesse II you should follow up with at least 2 foam pad polishings, can use any good polish/wax product. Then a good sealant mixed with a swirl remover applied as a final coat.

This is how professionals restore the finish on a vehicle.

Colored wax..HAHAHAHAHA that is still cracking me up.
autoglym paintwork renovator is pretty good but removes polish too so polish after with an equally good polish to protect against further damage
if your car is white, use correction fluid.
Most light scratches can be buffed out by a professional detail.
If they are a tad more severe. Go to the dealership and buy a bottle of touch up paint.. I am pretty sure it is under 10 bucks. When you use it, do NOT use the applicator it comes with,
use a matchstick (the cardboard end) to apply. It fits in the scratches well and spreds more smoothly than the little brush that comes in the paint tube.
