Is it worth pressing several times the "pedestrian button" at the traffic lights?
Answers:
Well, it may make you feel better -- thinking that you're actually getting something accomplished. But pushing it once sends the signal to alter the sequence to include the pedestrian lights. Any time you push it after that may give you a sense of satisfaction, but doesn't hurry-up the signal any at all.
no lol its on a timed cycle
No, but it gives you peace of mind that you've actuall pressed the button.
Also gives you something to do while waiting for the lights to turn..
no its timed
no, just like a elevator. press the button and all it knows, is that someone is standing there.
No. It takes the same amount of time no matter how many times you press it.
Nope.
Feel free if it makes you feel better though.
Well it keeps you occupied so you think it's quicker, if you press it once and you're waiting around doing nothing, it'll seem to take ages longer, I make a game of it, how many times can I press before the green man comes, he's getting quicker you know :P
It won't make it go any faster, but it always makes me feel better, so go ahead, knock yourself out
i wish it did, but it makes no difference, it may not even cut the time down pressing it once, traffic flow is measured by sensors on the traffic lights and wire sensors in the road, if its rush hour for example then even pressing the button once will not reduce the timer that is running the green light before turning red.
YES,,,if u press it many times then the machine will understand that there are many people waiting to cross the road ..so the green light will be there more quickly.
I was always told that once is enough. But sometimes I can't stand it either and press it a couple of times.
Or ask the Sugababes, they've pushed the button as well.
No, you press the button so that we can get your fingerprints for our database and know where you are!
no it has a sensor that is pointed at oncoming traffic thats what determines the lights.
It probably works as well as pushing an elevator button several times while waiting to go up in a building
It's a timer and the main goal is to keep you occupied. so go ahead, waste your time. .)
no
Just for the satisfaction of know ing for sure, why don't you time it both ways? Press it once and see how long it takes. Then press it every 5 seconds and see how long that takes.
I'll bet you're the one that has to touch something with a "wet paint" sign on it, just to see if the paint is really wet.
nope.
baaa haaaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
no, it is a computerised timed cycle and pressing more than once is futile
No, when the word 'wait' lights you have activated the crossing. you cannot speed up the process.
