Why are Vauxhalls rubbish?

Why do Vauxhall make rubbish cars? I had a drive of an Astra and didn't like it. I had a Corsa a few years ago and it was an awful car.
Why don't they take a look at Fords, VWs and Renaults for example and build a car that is NICE TO DRIVE?

Answers:
Ohhh brother. you be preaching to the crowd!!

my company cars so far have been an astra van, vectra and two zafira's. It's just like driving a bigger piece of crap each time!
Because they are.
Vauxhall used to be good, but like all other American based things they have gone steadlily downhill over the years. too many better built and cheaper imports from the far east most likely.

Fords and Renaults are almost as bad.
Because they are made in Luton by people who are just waiting to be told they are out of work so they are all depressed!
You pays your money and takes your choice. You will only get what you pay for! I am quite happy with my Corsa and will continue to be until my new Bentley becomes available for collection.
There just crap
everyone knows Fords and Vauxhalls are shite!
vauxhall do make great cars you just had a corsa which is for kids who just passed their tests ford cars are poorly equipped compared to vauxhalls and vw are unreliable and Renault's are just french plastic why not try a proper vauxhall like the vectra sri
I don't know if anyone else has a good answer to this question. I don't - but I did want to say that if they're going to make rubbish cars then the least they could do is have a company name that you can turn into an acronym - like ford (fix or repair daily) and fiat (fix it again tony).
Low end market cars are built to a PRICE point which means that quality is compromised also the smaller the vehicle the less stable it is to drive at motorway speeds I'm sure the Corsa is no worse than the equivalent aged Clio or Lupo.

Ford, Vauxhall, VW and Citroen Peugeot and Renault ALL follow the same manufacturing methods after all they are all competing in the same markets.

Although what you are mentioning is what is called a taste prefernce you simply prefer other cars for Vauxhall.. if comparing like for like in size and age there is really very few differneces unless tyhe cars you have had have been very well used for 50,000's or more miles when they could have been misused and you are comparing them with lower milage examples of other cars in any way the comparison wont be favorable unless you compare like for like
I am more then happy with my V reg Astra
Ford? I beg to differ. But I agree about Vauxhall - you are spot on. Same with Ford, IMHO, though slightly better.

Reason: Vauxhall/GM is a unit-shifting outfit. Hire and fleet outfits love them because all the big costs are later on after they've punted the cars. Huge volume, low price and no interest in quality.
buy a Mercedes Benz like I have twice and I'm looking for a third.
Best built car made.
I keep old Opels, rear wheel drive saloons and coupes, great drivers' cars, if you uprate the brakes, suspension and the engines. Yet all the recent Vauxhall/Opel stuff, with few exceptions, leaves me cold. I'm a Mercedes convert, I now have two 190E's, and they have bank-vault build qualtiy to them, they are safe, reassuring, fast enough, reliable and suprisingly economical.
i wouldn't call ford a nice car to drive but my hubby would diagree he still in love with his capri,i'm still in love with my subaru!!
Chintzy american crap. Had to drive a new astra 4 a while - talk about boring - It even had a sport button that made it even more dissapointing. Honestly my montego was much better.
Don't agree I'm afraid, their new generation of models have been given a good tidy up and in my view are excellent cars. The new Astra is a good example, the VXR is an absolute diamond of a car.

You have the VX220, which i believe is much sexier than the Lotus Elise. You have the Monaro, which is a pure muscle car through and through.

I do think that the Corsa has never had much of an appeal for me, neither has the new Vectra.
I think your problem is you had an "awful car". A corsa isn't a car - it's a shopping trolley. All small 'budget' cars are by their nature rubbish in build quality, handling, power & driver satisfaction.

Get a Signum 3.2 elite, Omega 3.2 elite, VX220, Vectra Elite or even a high spec V6 Frontera - they are just fine. Handle well, bags of power, comfy ride, quiet.

OK, maybe I'm biased as my last 3 cars have been VX's (including two Omegas) and I like the styling & handling. OK, a mondeo did handle & ride better but V6 mondeos are hard to come by.

That's like saying all beef is rubbish when all you've had is a Farmfoods economy burger - try the Sirloin. You gets what you pays for.
Coz They are..
Vauxhall made grate cars once up on a time, but now the car industry is all about cutting corners and pinching pennys.

Look at the Mk2 sri 130, It P*ssed all over fords of there day
i drive one and although it drives better than a ford of similar design, it falls apart and everytime it does break, everything around the broken bit is usually screwed when you check it too. on aircon models you have to take an engine mounting off just to change to drive belt.stoopid! i personally believe that the ecotec engine is designed by plebs and assembled by playshool kids. blindfolded!
Vauxhalls were good once,up to the early 30`s
All modern front wheel drive cars are built down to a price,so they're pretty much all crap
Ive had a few Astras and Cavaliers and they all blur together in my mind-just so much grey porridge
ford & renault better than vauxhall where u from, they're just as crap
Nah, its not rubbish
