What year would a Y reg vehicle be registered? UK only?

hiya, it would be registerd in 2002/2003
so that would be the year 2000 because the reg W was the year 2000 and there is no X in the reg of cars.The reg had two a year making the Y reg in the year 2000. after this was 51 and 02, in the year 2001 and 52 and 02 in the year 2002 and so on.

The registration year mark refers to when the vehicle was first placed on the road, not the actual maker's model year.
y reg would be licensed and registered as a 2001.
