How can i make my k reg golf td (not tdi) quicker?
Answers:
go to a specialized garage and re-programme your onboard comptuter ! You can increase the power by about 30 - 40 BHP and get a K & N intake filter . if all else fails .. get a jaguar !!
haha !! im a girl too . impressed ??
new air filter? sports exhaust? put a tdi lump in.
sell it go for petrol buy gti
Tie it to a rocket!
The answer to your question is bound by the restraints of your budget, which you did not specify. Therefore it's a little difficult to answer concisely.
let the clutch out!!!
In short, it's cheaper to buy something faster..
Quick low cost fixes include:
empty the boot of all useless junk / only fill the tank half way
don't carry passengers
keep the tires at the correct pressure
clean / new hi-flow air filters
injector clean / engine de-coke
Super duper engine oil
Firstly, I would get it serviced. Basic stuff, oil, oil filter, air filter - get them all changed.
Don't bother with a performance airfilter, and as for the exhaust - you wont get any gains that are worth the cost. 1-2 BHP if you are lucky and you can get that type of gain from a decent service at a fraction of the cost.
They only way you will get any gain from your TD, will be getting a reprogrammed chip. I have seen these sold on ebay and other parts of the internet. They are not very expensive and say that they increase performance by 30%.
Don't waste your money on any of the run-of-the-mill performance parts.
Supercharge it. P&P. and many other things, new exhaust, chip, internals blah blah blah blah it can go on forever.
Its probably lost a lot of power due to the fact that its an older car. You could try lots of things such as altering the engine management and modifications, but you could have bought a new car by the time youve spent all your money doing that.
there is a little hose recirculating some of the exhaust fumes at the back of the engine remove hose blockit with a ball bearing and reattach or else testers will fail it, also stops black smoke
Very tricky unless you have some spare cash hanging around. Servicing etc is all very well, but to get a real squirt of power when you need it, go fo a NOX kit. They are actually relatively inexpensive to buy and fit and on a TD are perfect, the engine hasn't been too over stressed (hopefully) and can handle a lot more power. In the case of a Golf TD, the insurance shouldn't rise too much either and you will be able to see off much more powerful cars and also make overtaking a safer procedure.
use K&N Filter, or Green (one witch goes inside air filter housing)
and sebring or remus exaust but ask for a specific 1 for your engine
