How long it takes to sell a car?

I want to sell my 2004 vauxhall corsa life 12v, it has 20,667 miles only!
I thought £4495 would be a good price. Do you think I will sell it quickly?
But what method of payment should I accept? surely £4495 cash is a lot of money and I can't trust a stranger to give me a check. What would you do?

Answers:
look on the auto trader first to see what these cars are priced at. You can also use there value service on-line. www.autotrader.co.uk. Buy a counterfeit marker pen and take cash, do not except a cheque etc. there are a lot of scammers out there.
how long is a peice of string
only accept cash
depends how good your car is and how appealing it is to buyers
10 minutes to 10 years it depends on about one thousand different scenarios
put it on the market and see what happens
yes that is a good price and what you could do is when the new owner saids yes i want the car take him to you bank where he can wright out the check or cash and you wont have to worry about geting robed or something also just to make it safe you could take him to chang the title to
I don't know how long it will take to sell but if the buyer doesn't want to pay cash, tell them that if they pay by cheque (or Bankers Draft) they will have to wait until the cheque clears before they can take the car.

Do not accept a Bankers draft as cash ! They can still be stolen or used fraudulently and Banks now treat them as cheques rather than cleared funds.
tell who ever wants to buy it you will meet them at the bank so they can give you cash
Options
1. Ask for cash (meet up near a bank and the buyer can go with you to deposit cash)
2. Bankers draft (again meet up or take new owner to the bank to make sure it's not a fake and clears straight away)
3. Cheque but don't hand over your car until it has cleared into your bank account.

I've no idea if you are selling for the right price but there are websites that will give you a car valuation for a small fee. You can also check the price guides available in shops like WH Smith, you look up car details and it will list a price (I would just check the guide without actually buying it!). If you advertise your car on-line or in a local paper beware of callers who say they have buyers for your car and will arrange for them to contact you for a fee which you will get back once the car is sold, for example, I was conned by a company call Wise Match and it cost me about £90
being a small car and popular make you should sale it quickly.if a cheque is given hang on to the car and paper work when it clears get a deposit and give a receit for it.bankers draught is ok.good luck
By all means take a cheque - On the clear understanding that you will release the car ONLY when you receive cleared funds into your account. My preference would be cash followed by a bankers draft.
cash only in £5.00p notes that,ll do the trick
