Are 185/60 tyres ok for my 13" alloy wheels from an old xr2i?
Answers:
Have a look for the "J" number on the wheel. This may be on the inner rim. you need 6J wheels for 185 tyres to be correct. You may get away with 5.5 but 6J is correct. This measurement is the width of the rim.
so the rim should be 6J x 13, trye is 185 (width)/ 60 (called aspect ratio, this is a ratio between wall height and width) x 13 (obvious)
If the wheels are from an XR2 then they should be Ok as the standard tyre from the XR2 is a 185/60x13.
Best of luck and happy motoring
they should fit
i think they will fit ok.
the standard size tyres for the ford ka are 155/70-13 or maybe 165/65-13,depending on the model & spec of the vehicle.
i think that the tyres would be too wide for the wheels & if they were fitted, the sidewalls might rub on the inner wheel arches at the rear.
if fitted at the front they may rub on the inner wing when the vehicle is turned to full-lock when steering.
155/60 is more than enough! A 185 will use allot more fuel!
If you are using standard Ka wheels the 185/60-13 tyres are too wide and you run the risk of popping the tyre beads over the rims.
The standard KA alloys are normally 5J rim width wheras the XR2 wheels are 6J or an inch wider on rim width.
I'm surprised if the tyre inner face isn't rubbing the inner wings on your car.
If you are using the XR2i wheels on your Ka, the 30 mm offset of the J rim will put quite an additional load on the wheel bearings and associated suspension set-up.
Lastly it will probably nullify your insurance if you don't notify your insurance company.
they are to big.
