I've been told that my in laws Lexus S200 has more than one ignition coil?

As far as I was aware, engines only have one ignition coil. His car is running poor, and he's been told that each valve or cylinder has a coil on it and they'll have to do disgnostics to fix it. Is this a rip off or are they right?

Answers:
You can take you vehicle to a certified ASC mechanic to have your vehicle worked on. (you can go to Toyota, etc., ) make sure you keep your receipts. If you do take your car somewhere else, your warranty will not be voided, if you have the proper paperwork. At our Lexus location, we have never heard of a S200. We need more details.
Yes some cars are fitted with individual coil packs for each cylinder
oh good
They are correct many engines today use coil per cylinder. As these can be expensive they will have to do diagnostics to determine which coil is faulty. Its not a rip off Regards Mike
what does that mean
Lexus is not a car to be worked on at home. It takes special tools, computer equipment and software programs to fix these cars.

To attempt to do anything to a Lexus outside of the dealership might void the warranty and most of the time cost you 5 times more when you have to resort to the dealer to fix it.

Always trust a Lexus dealership..they are not there to rip you off.

I would only trust a certified Lexus mechanic to touch a Lexus.
