It depends what your after. It is true that the Punto lacks some of the refinement of its rivals, the design is ageing somewhat. On the good side, prices are now incredibly cheap seeing as the new Grade Punto has come out. In my eyes its always had that sporty look, the ride is nice and firm, the interior is rather cheap but does the job, maintenance is very cheap.

In my opinion, I would go for it, try the 1.4 sporting or the diesel. If your buying used, make sure it has a full service history and that it hasn't been used as a driving school car.
You should be able to get the information you want from the Fiat website at http://www.fiat.co.uk/cgi-bin/pbrand.dll.
they arent bad cars , not made the best , but they are fun funky cars for a reasonable price , although you wont get a lot back for it resale
There's no other new Punto except GrandePunto. But the old one is still on production line and will be for few years.
The car is cheap to run, doesnt rust, cheap to service and low insurance group. The bad news is that it will be discontinued very soon in favour of the grande punto which is a much better car for similar money
Don't buy a new shape Punto. Build quality is awful, resale value is non-existant, you'll break down more times a week than you bathe, and Fiat stands for "Fix It Again Tony". You'll be far better off holding out for the new shape Vauxhall Corsa in September, which will be far more modern, reliable, and will hold more value. Or, give away the money to charity, you'll feel far better doing that than buying a fiat.

Hope Ive been of help to you
so do yo know
Ok, something nice to say about Fiats? They come in pretty colors.

Other than that, I'd never own another one. I quickly discovered FIAT means "Fix It Again, Tony!"
nothing much, it's just a facelifted version. But as my mam drives one, we've discoverd that it is less reliable, and we haven't just got a dodgy model. The windscreen fell out of it's socket, the exaust fell off, it keeps revving up by itself and it keeps on locking it's doors by itself but apart from that, the styling is unique but dated and the value for money is fantastic. personaly i would go for the skoda fabia, it's the 5th best car in the car rankings and the skoda make is 2nd top for reliability and from wot other people have said about it i assume it is a good car.
And fiat means, 'maid' in italian i think.
