How can i get my standard cb500s to go faster on a budget?
Answers:
Save money and buy a bigger bike.
I mean let's assume the bike has 50hp. You'll spend 2k and get 5hp more. For that, sell your bike and use the 2k on a bigger bike.
good service , change of spark plugs , oil change and air filter will make a difference.
theres a website that tells you how to make your own nitrous kit, has a bit for bikes.
http://www.dynopower.freeserve.co.uk/nit.
that would be a cheap way to more power.
paint it black there so much faster,or you could try looking on the cb500 owners club web site you will find all you need there, probobly a pipe and jet,s to suit will be your best way to go.
They can be tuned, there was a one-make race series a few years ago for CB500s. A very wise (yeah, right!) person once said "If you want a faster bike, buy a faster bike." He wasn't wrong.
if you alter the bike it will be more difficult to sell later.
the obvious changes to make are:
less restrictive air filter (K&N)
bigger jets
and a better breathing exhaust
to get a higher top speed at the expense of acceleration you could fit a smaller rear wheel sprocket.
A more streamlined riding suit, perhaps a fairing. If you lost a few pounds in weight it would help, too!
advance the intake cam one tooth and fit a larger main jet to each carb.
Actually a good sportbike book is the best investment regarding going faster -- I'd suggest the Nick Ienatsch book "Sport Riding Techniques". "Twist of the Wrist" is a bit too track-focussed for my taste, whereas the "Proficient" books aren't spirited riding but more general competence (which is very useful too). If you're like just about everyone else on the road, improving your riding skills will make you much faster than 100 times the investment in the bike.
I had this bike and got a little more speed by cahnging the exhaust and fitting a +20 main jet but it cost £400 and there wasnt a significant difference, save the money and put it twoards a fireblade
erm put k+n filters on and rejet.
change the exhaust silencer
change the sprockets
