Cougar is actually made by Mercury.
get a push bike and save the planet
no i havent but my uncle have ablack one
A Cougar is a Ford Contour with 2 doors.
If the car has problems, it may not, good luck finding a mechanic.
P.S. I don't want to discourage you from buying one.
Forget the probe. they are rubbish. i've had one . i owned it for about 5 months. no problens in those months however the car was slow, under equiped, noisy, and built so badly. Get a 4 cylinder 1.8 globo friendly honda integra type r. and feel the difference.
There are good cars, Ford Tech for over 10 yrs, I really like the 2.5 motor, Coworker has one and likes his.
They are great running cars when running good, but have suffered from the same problems as the Contour with mainly electrical problems espcially in southern climates. Also they can be quite expensive to repair due to the compactness of everything and most independant shops don't like working on them as they have more of a european design on things than American at times (the electrical I think was based off a Ford of Europe design, hince the electrical problems)
They are ok as a car but not exceptional in any way. I have driven one and it drives exactly the same as a Mondeo. You may be better test driving a Fiat Coupe (Faster better looking, just as roomy), Alfa Romeo GTV (Much better looking, more cachet, faster better handling but little rear seat/boot space) or Peugeot 406 Coupe (4 seats 3.0 litre V6, better looking). Peugeot is the Cougars nearest rival as it is also based on a saloon car but is designed by Pininfarina(As is the GTV), My choice would be the Alfa GTV especially in 3 litre form, but if you need the rear seat space the Fiat coupe would also be a good bet, especially the 20 Valve Turbo which is 220 bhp and won't cost any more than the Ford.. Hope this helps..
No I've been lucky so far
Buy a Mitsubishi Galant v6. Much more luxury and better power with japanese reliability
My father has one of these, very good looking cars, reliability is amply prooven. Its a lovely car apart from its performance, seeing as its a 2.5 V6, its not that quick

If i were you, I would go for the Nissan 200SX, a lot more car for your money, or maybe a Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo
nice car, fairly quick, etc.any ford dealer can work on them easily enough so ignore the idiot above.dont pay over the odds though.they depreciated like hell.
Having worked for a Ford Dealer for ten years, I advise looking at another make of coupe. the Cougar is clumsy and is less pretty inside than it is out. Try elsewere there is plenty to choose from.
Good Luck!
